The package consists of a data CD with all text documents produced in MS WORD together with 16 audio cassettes (C12) in a presentation album. The recordings can be supplied on 2 audio CDs if preferred.
Hear hear readers (ISBN 978 0 9546023 1 4) are listen and read materials for adult beginners. They support the English national curriculum (ESOL/basic skills reading and listening) at pre-entry and entry 1 level. They are for learners who are just ready to move on from letter, syllable and word recognition to meaningful texts.
The listening stage is an important one. Learners who understand and predict what they read are more confident to decode unfamiliar words and understand sentence punctuation. The text is easy to tackle with just one to three sentences on an A5 page and no more than twenty sentences to a reader. Sentences are simple but do not shy away from introducing past tense and future forms for recognition ahead of later formal practice. The vocabulary is generally relevant to learners’ lives in Britain but includes some words which are not usually presented to beginners where they enhance the narrative.

Sample extension exercises (eg gap fill, wordsearch, computer based comprehension tasks)
Word bank label files (for creating card index word banks)

Each reader has its own audio cassette with the same text read by four different voices on each side of the cassette. These are ideal for independent listening and reading practice to reinforce the tutor’s initial presentation of the material.
